Rise up!

I went to see the Republic Day Parade today... Since I have started my entry like this, you all may expect that I will talk about this day. But I won’t because there is something else that I have learnt on this occasion and I would like to share it with you all. By the way, I had an amazing experience this morning but another reason why I won't talk about the parade after this paragraph is because I thought that too much of Sukhoi and An-32 and Dorniers won’t be good for me. (That's another story, will tell you in person :D)

As some of my friends know, for a while now my body is not that strong and is falling prey to something or the other. And, this time it has cost me theatre, another secret project ;), college and Anugoonj... our University Fest where I cannot participate in anything because of a stupid injury. Believe me when I say I love participating in stuff, but now, I can just roam around like a zombie for a few more weeks because any kind of strenuous activity can have uglier consequences. Even now while I am typing, I have a hot water bottle stuck behind my back.

My too hot to handle hot water bottle

The reason why I am whining about my health issues is that I want you guys to know that I was pretty demoralised after spending so many days at home without doing anything and when my every effort to do something productive was thwarted and I found myself again in bed recovering.

But today while I was sitting happily in the VIP section (I had to mention it somehow!) and watching defence regiments march past, I thought to myself, “ Look at these guys, they are going slowly but so gracefully, every soldier is taking care of not leaving the other behind so that they are beautifully moving forward in a synchronised way, even the ex-servicemen in their marching contingent with their old age and the ailments that it brings with it are not rushing into anything and are taking one graceful step at a time.”

That’s when I realised, “Tanvi, rise up! It’s not the end of the world! (I am sure it is not, till 21st December at least.) Why do you have to rush into things? It is only wise to take rest now to be productive later. Take one graceful step at a time. Also, just like a marching contingent, your body is made up of parts that need to be in sync with other body parts to make your body move forward.”

Well, I am pretty upbeat after realising this and suddenly I am feeling less sick too! Guess, I needed a little bit of psychotherapy and not physiotherapy. Hahaha :P And I would like to say this to all of you my dear friends, slow and steady wins the race, a few failures do not mean the end of the world and have patience in life. This epiphany is making me see things clearly, hope it will help you all too. CHEERS TO LIFE!!

Fly like a Remote Controlled Plane?

Is it OK to ask for more freedom if you have been given enough all ready? Is it OK if you think that freedom is justified even if the society doesn't think its 'appropriate'? Are you ready to compromise on your professional life if your personal life doesn't allow you to have that extra freedom? Do you want to fly like a bird or a like a remote controlled plane which is flying and free but its flight is controlled by someone else?...

These are not some questions raised by cynics regarding Anna Hazare's movement when talking about democracy. These are the questions that go about in the minds of a teenager who belongs to a semi-modern family which is yet to be open-minded about everything. Half-knowledge about anything is bad and being semi-modern is like having half knowledge about the art of setting your thoughts free. And in such cases you are left terribly frustrated and dissatisfied. You want to fly high, and you actually are flying, but your control is in the hands of the conformist 'decision makers' of the society and their stereotypical rules.

For example, most teenage girls these days from such semi-modern families are allowed to study any subject they want to, even the demanding and difficult ones like Mass Communication, which is a sign of freedom and being modern. But they are not allowed to work over night or long hours because 'good-girls' are suppose to return home early so that the don't fall prey to the selfish ulterior motives of the outside evil world. It is not about whether the girl has good intentions or not, it is about whether the factors which are not in your power to change, that is, other people's intentions, that matter. Whatever happened to the moral rule of not fretting too much about things you can't change?

It is understandable that the people in control of the flight of our dreams in such situations are our well-wishers and want to keep us safe. But sometimes this protectiveness can turn into possessiveness which is what usually happens. People need to understand that with proper precautions and being responsible, any amount of freedom is not dangerous. In fact, it is the basis of constructive and productive thoughts that can benefit everyone.

So, fly like a bird, not like a remote controlled plane. Set your thoughts free and explore this world, however it is. Don't be afraid to make your own mistakes too and learn from them instead of just learning by watching other people fall in a pit.

Cry

(This is a self written poem that is inspired from 26/11. Now, I would like you all to read it and feel what i felt at that time. Not an "aurora" moment exactly. But, something that has affected our lives deeply.)

The leader of terror steps in and brainwashes the crowd
Young minds infested with thoughts of making him proud
He teaches them the meaning of crusade before the meaning of god
Makes them cook hell, feelings of hatred and discord.

They'll sacrifice themselves for him,
All he has to do is command.
They go on and carry on this crusade,
Until the whole world bleeds,
Because only this can stop him,
Only then they'll cease to breed.

They scream and shout he cannot hear them!
They fret and cry out he will not hear them!
They cut themselves and sacrifice themselves for him,
Only then did he hear them!
Only then did his god hear them!

And we are left trying to forget what they had served on the death platter.
Trying to forget those devilish encounters.
Trying to forget their sins,
The sins he held god responsible for!

It disappears into oblivion.
It is erased from my life.
Everyday was getting harder.
Until, I decided to think otherwise.
But deciding was not enough and it still haunts me.
But I know it also haunts those young minds.

Some may have become life curators,
Or anything else that personifies purity out loud.
Who knew that they’d be caught in their own circumstances
And convinced to believe that they are made to make his God proud.

It is a dismal place, but for them it is paradise,
It is a place full of disgrace, but for them, it makes them rise.
They all have a story to tell, they all have something to say,
They all have something to hide but not because of shame.

I too have a story, story of their glory.
I too have experienced their wrath.
I too have been consumed by their deeds and their aftermath.
But I feel sorry,
Sorry for their state,
Wish I could make them understand,
But I think it is just too late.

To make them understand how to deal with their lives,
To make them understand that the answers to their misery is not other people’s strife.
To make them love more than they hate,
To make them spread happiness and restore their faith.

My Love - THEATRE

I feel complete when i am in my most loved "aurora moment"......doing theatre.....i am in love with the way it teaches us so much about this world....the way how by being fake (actors "act") it shows us the reality,i love the way each character represents someone or something so integral to humans and to this universe.Theatre is a kind of performing art which is an amalgam of various other performing arts...be it acting, music,or dance....it depends on the creativity of the theatre artists to choose what they want to include in their performance to make it more and more enlightening and awakening. Many even use puppetry or ventriloquism.I am new in this world of theatre..and till now with all this variety and colour it has only amazed me.I fall in love with theatre everyday and I fall in love with myself for doing it.
I have a lot to learn right now,i will never stop learning. And i know it is early for me to comment on this beautiful art because i am like a baby who has just opened his eyes in the theatre world. But i will not deny that i am happy and satisfied when i rehearse or perform, and so,i had to write something about this feeling that i experience every time i do it.I feel frustrated and restless when i do not and in the beginning i couldn't even realize the reason untill i resumed theatre again and saw an instant improvement in my mood.It is interesting and amusing because of this.
For now,I am pursuing it as an hobby, don't wan't to make any solid decisions related to it this early.I want to take a balanced approach to it right now.Expose myself to as many opportunities as i can and use my potential to the fullest.I want to first find out what i am actually made for.So for now i conclude by just saying that whatever my future is,whatever i take up as my career, theatre has become my way of living life.

SCIENCE vs MASS COMMUNICATION :) :P

Some of the major "AURORA MOMENTS" of my life happened while i studied stuff related to science. I call those moments of discovery and adventure "aurora moments " because this beautiful subject is filled with amazing things we dont know about both, the believable and the unbelievable world. This particular post is about my transformation from a pure scince student to a more versatile one of mass communication...

Science..... a subject which is very much underrated these days, not in the context of amount of studies required to pass it or in the context of career streams that people can opt for,but in the actual practice of "studying" science. Students think that if they read and learn the text along with the punctuation marks of a few thick science books like "Pradeep" , they can say that they are science students. Getting 90 % determines who is the scientitst of the class and whose not. Students are more interested in rote learning the defenitions than doing experiments on their own and finding out answers ! Infact, unfortunately, in our CBSE syllabus, more weightage is given to theory part than to practicals and even in the little bit of practicals that we do we waste most of our time in trying to maintain our "practical files". Our leaders are trying to reform the education system alot (Kapil Sibbal is now like a God to many.  :D  thank you Sir ! ) but actual reform is required in the attitude of today's children. They need to understand that its not ONLY the books that enhance your knowledge. They need to understand that love for science should be the only reason why one should study it. You should be able to apply the scientific principles in real life situatons and analyse them spontaneously......

I took science (non-medical) for the love of it... when i was in class 10, i didn't know what i actually wanted to do in life but i knew that it wasn't engineering or doctor and even then i took science. But after my boards i realised that i am not the kind of person who can concentrate on just one subject. I wanted a more versatile course in which i can explore the world in a more wider frame. I wanted a career where i can quench my thirst for knowledge as well as my thirst to speak my thoughts..... So, i opted for mass communication. I was hesitant beacause i thought maybe i'll miss all that science has in store for me but i realised that being in this world of mass communication i can actually explore the world more freely....

I am not saying that one subject is better than the other because both are equally amazing but i am saying that love for a subject is defenitely bigger than what the stereotype image of the subject is...and i have always studied what i loved...

My first Post

I decided to name my first post as "My first Post" with a capital "M" and "P" because i wanted to increase the authenticity of  this "aurora" moment of my life. Many people will say "Oh,common Tanvi, get a life !...starting to write a blog is an 'aurora' moment for you !!!???"....To them i'd like to say that thanks to today's technology,we can actually write and upload whatever our thoughts are on internet (which automatically displays it to the world !),so yes, it is an "aurora" moment for me because, not really the "masses", but a lot of people tend to read it from different countries...and it excites me to think that someone sitting in U.S.A or Europe or somewhere closer to where i live, like in Noida itself, might read my blog right now ! This one is for people who are reading my blog- "THANKS FOR STOPPING BY AND READING.I WILL TRY AND PUT SOMETHING MORE SUBSTANTIAL,OR INTELLECTUAL LATER.FOR NOW JUST ENJOY ME BLABBING ABOUT MY FIRST POST !!!".  The reason why i started to write my blog is that i had nothing to do in the holidays between school and college.Yeah we "lucky" people have almost 4 MONTHS of pure holidays after we pass our school to finally decide which college we are gonna step into with our noble ambitions...So,.I thought in addition to running all over India to give entrance exams of different colleges, roaming in the streets of my city with friends, eating, watching TV,sitting on Facebook and boring my younger sister by yelling "i am bored !!! "....i should actually do something productive and write a blog...So here i am !...Tanvi Dube...first time blogger and a pro blabber on blog spot to blab about the bubbly, blissful, baffling world ! ( the last line can be a tongue twister ! ) .
SO,SEE YOU LATER ALLIGATOR ( aligator is used to make it rhyme) ! KEEP READING...KEEP DREAMING...KEEP GROWING ! :) <3
